MY STORY

~Cara~
Who am I?
A quirky, small-town girl who ardently loves my husband, kids and Jesus; eccentric, creative, flexible and spunky. Oh yah, and I like to take pictures! That kind of sums it up.

How did I get here?
I vividly remember putting the quarter in the gumball machine, crossing my fingers and saying a little prayer that I would get the awesome 110 film camera on the front of the machine and not one of the plastic rings. I really thought it was a gift from God when that camera fell into my hands. I immediately started spending a small fortune on film and developing (or at least an 8 year-old's fortune) and soon won my first photography award: a blue ribbon in 4H. The events that ensued included getting a new camera and taking pictures of absolutely everyone who was willing, borrowing a friend's professional camera, until I eventually HAD to have my own SLR. The rest is history.

What's my style?
I am extremely relaxed. I come to all my sessions with a loose structure and some ideas. Then, I move as my creativity strikes me. My goal is to make each session comfortable and fun. {I get 10 times better pictures from subjects that are relaxed, laughing and enjoying each other, than from those who are worried about perfect pictures}. Parents tell me all the time their kids used to hate getting pictures done in a studio, now they ask when we are meeting again to shoot more.

If not a photographer, who would I be?
If I weren't a photographer. . . I would either be a restaurant owner or an inventor {maybe both because I have an extremely difficult time following a recipe}. However, my biggest dream has always been to be a secret agent.
